What time is Clemson kickoff?

Jake Briningstool is Clemson’s all-time leading receiver at tight end, and he’s no longer with the program after moving on to the NFL and the Kansas City Chiefs. That’s certainly a big loss entering 2025, but it doesn’t necessarily mean tight end is a hole in the Tigers’ offense. 

Olson Patt-Henry and Josh Sapp both had an impact on the team last year and should be ready for bigger roles this season. Patt-Henry had nine catches for 121 yards and three touchdowns in 2024, while Sapp has 13 catches in his career for 123 yards and two touchdowns. 

It will be a big jump for them to take over for Briningstool, but they have the talent to get that done. 

Redshirt freshman Christian Bentancur is a name to keep an eye on after having one catch for 7 yards in six games last year. The Illinois product was a consensus top 125 player nationally coming out of high school, and this season should offer him to opportunity to show off those talents. 

True freshman Logan Brooking and former Clemson basketball star Ian Schieffelein are both projects, but they both have the athleticism to help the team if and when they get their chances.

The 2025 running back group may be Clemson’s most untested, unsettled and, at the same time, intriguing position group on the roster. There is a lot of talent among the players, no doubt, but there are plenty of questions. 

Adam Randall has the most experience, but it came at another position (wide receiver). Dabo Swinney and Cade Klubnik constantly praise Randall’s leadership, and it will be interesting to see if that – and his talents – will translate to running back.

Jay Haynes contributed some last year, but he’s coming off a torn ACL suffered in the ACC Championship Game. David Eziomume is a talented returner, but he only had 10 carries for 62 yards in 2024, and the same could be said of Jarvis Green, who has 12 carries for 57 yards in two seasons. Keith Adams Jr. is a steady veteran who has played some, but could he rise to the next level if needed?

Then there’s Gideon Davidson, one of the top running back recruits in the 2025 class. Is he ready to be the lead back? If not, will he be ready at some point this season?

Again, a lot of questions. But at least it seems like C.J. Spiller’s position group has enough options to find the answers. The running backs don’t have to be the focal point of the offense this season, so that should help them easy into the season and be productive – even if it’s as a group and not one back leading the way.

For the first time in several seasons, Clemson’s football team enters a season with stability, depth and experience on its offensive line.

The starting five should have four seniors in the lineup:

• Left tackle Tristan Leigh (who has played in 32 games with 23 starts)
• Center Ryan Linthicum (who emerged last season)
• Right guard Walker Parks (who is coping with a fall-camp injury)
• Right tackle Blake Miller (who has played in 41 games, all starts

The other spot (left guard) should come down to Collin Sadler or Harris Sewell, both experienced reserves.

That kind of stability and experience has been missing in recent seasons for the Tigers, and that kind of stability and experience can be key to an offense, and a team, having success. 

But what about the depth? Well, it likely starts with Sewell, who could play several spots on the line. Sophomore Elyjah Thurmon played well last year before suffering a season-ending injury, while Dietrick Pennington is another senior who can help this group … if he can stay healthy.

Mason Wade and Ronan O'Connell both redshirted as part of Matt Luke’s first recruiting class and should be able to get some valuable playing time this season. And then there’s true freshman Brayden Jacobs, who could be in the mix, as well.

And don’t forget about Luke. We already saw what his presence meant for the team last year, and that was before he really started getting the players he recruited into the lineup. As more of those players start to play more, we will see Luke’s impact on this program grow.

The clear leader in the defensive tackle group stands out on the Clemson football team: junior Peter Woods.

In two seasons with the Tigers, Woods has been really good with 59 tackles, including 11.0 for loss, three sacks and two forced fumbles. The 2023 Freshman All-American played both on the inside and outside last year by necessity, but it will be a good thing for Woods to settle in on the inside this season.

A dominant season from Woods, which is not outside the realm of possibility, can help turn around the Clemson defense in defensive coordinator Tom Allen’s first season with the program.

But Woods has plenty of help. That starts with graduate student Demonte Capehart, who has 59 tackles, including 10.5 for loss, in 45 career games. Getting Capehart back for yet another season was a big offseason development for the team entering the 2025 season. 

Capehart’s experience should help with the growth of the young players on the depth chart. That group includes third-year sophomores Vic Burley and Stephiylan Green and Amare Adams, redshirt freshmen Hevin Brown-Shuler and Champ Thompson and true freshman Amare Adams, one of the top players in the 2025 recruiting class.

Burley has been slowed by injuries, while Green took a big step last year, playing in 12 games after playing in just two games in 2023.
